Silver Craft
what do I need?to be able to silver soilder on to broken pieces of plates for a new craft idea i have?
I want to soilder on to the sides of the broken pieces of china plates which I have broken.
I want to make a thin silver border around the plate pieces.
I have got the iron and wire, and have tryed to do it but it does not stick to the sides.
You need copper foil tape, which is sold at any stained glass supply store. You put the tape around the edges and burnish it down, then apply the solder to the tape. The solder alone won't stick to glass or china. You'll also need flux to help the solder flow freely and stick better. Here's a basic tutorial. http://www.lapidaryjournal.com/stepbystep/apr05.cfm
