What is the best way to store vermeil (gold over silver) jewelry?
I have a gold over silver necklace that I got from QVC. It seems to have dimmed a little over time - I've only had it for a year. It's an omega that is braided with plain sterling silver. I've kept it in the box it came in. I have a silver keeper box, but it's too small for this necklace. I thought about using silver cleaner on it, but since it is woven with vermeil... I'm afraid it will fade it. Can I use silver cloths on it (I used to work in a jewelry store and we had these, but I don't know if or where you can buy them)? I don't have much experience with gold over silver jewelry. I do have a pair of vermeil earrings from Penney's that the gold coating totally wore off of. This necklace was pretty expensive so I'm a little disappointed - it's not like the gold has worn off, but it's just lost its luster. Also it looks like the gold color has faded some - I hope it's not wearing off. What can I do for it?
Doesnt QVC have a life time guarantee on jewelery? I would get a bigger holder for that type of jewelery if you are gonna buy it and depending on how often you wear it, it is going to fade...it can also be redipped to get the color at any jewelery store...it can also be dipped into silver.
