how many of you agree that F1 is better off with the old european circuits?
i mean, the new circuits may be technologically superior, but they can't take away the charm of the old, traditional european circuits, don't you think? i am from a non european country, but still feel that F1 should not abandon the traditional circuits for the new ones, how many on you feel the the new circuits such as sepang or shanghai or the bahrain circuit don't have what the circuits like the A1 ring, imola, nurburgring had?
i don't suggest thant these venues be dropped, but the old ones should not be dropped either, the new circuits are sterile.
I agree a few of the new circuits are sterile.
I think Istanbul is a great circuit though, and its a great city also. I may be biased as I am half Turkish but the track layout is awesome. Its also generated a lot of interest in motorsport and sparked interest and entries into the national scene their.
The old circuits have the prestige and magic and also still produce some great racing. Look what just happened at Monza. And Spa. I think it is important to hang on to this nostalgia.
Valencia was a total let down. To me apart from the fish market pit stop which was nice it looked like an undeveloped car park. That race was probably the worst i've ever seen in my life. And the location - a complete snobs playground with the tv director constantly cutting to yaughts and chavy blondes, it really showed the snobbery and crap side of F1.
However, I am looking forward to Singapore. Its got a nice flow to it and, althought the country lacks racing heritage, a long time ago Singapore was on the Grand Prix calendar.
Anyway, the A1 ring is like 10 years old! Still some great memories though.
