Currently I like to make rings and beads inspired by Beach Glass. Mostly because I've spent a lot of time on beaches: walking on
the sand, staring at the water and dreaming. I love the ways these rings look and feel. They are very comfortable to wear and look as though you found something very special on the beach. They feel
light and silky. The frosted glass has a lovely glow in the light. It looks just like beach glass, worn smooth by the action of sand and waves.
These rings are made with art glass. Please don't think
that I go to the beach and collect glass to melt. I've spent years beach combing and can only find rings like these in my dreams.
I take great care in shaping these rings. There are no sharp or rough
edges. They are made of glass though, and should be treated with care. Please don't drop your ring on concrete and avoid punching things. That said, there are plenty of intact Roman Glass rings.
Currently custom orders are a bit challenging for me as I don't have a full range of ring mandrels. Sizes currently available are: 6, 6.5, 8, 8.5, 10 and 10.5. I am trying to get more sizes, but it looks like I will
have to get some custom metal work done first. Commercially available mandrels are very limited.
To better explain this, here is a bit of background on the process. I wrap the molten glass around a metal tube
called a mandrel. The size of the tube dictates the size of the ring. There were limited mandrel sizes available from my supplier. The manufacture has started to make more sizes and I was hoping hope to purchase a
winder range of mandrels. Sadly none of the 'new' sizes line up with finger wearable rings so I am trying to get a machine shop to make me some custom sizes. Might take a while
